Mikhail Blagosklonny and his Study on Factors Causing Quick Aging

Cancer cells are at times hard to identify especially during the early stages. Mikhail Blagosklonny, a scientist, and professor deal with cancer and anti-aging remedies. Mikhail Blagosklonny studies cancer and aging and is a professor of oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York. Mikhail has both M.D in internal medicine and Ph.D. in experimental medicine and cardiology which he attained from the First Pavlov State Medicine University of St. Petersburg.

In 2002, Mikhail was appointed an associate professor of medicine at New York Medical College in Valhalla and later became a senior scientist at Ordway Research Institute. In 2009, Blagosklonny was appointed a professor of oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute where he engaged in research on cancer and anti-aging remedies.

Mikhail identified that for one to live long, he/she should reduce the amount of calorie they consume daily. He concluded that aging is brought about by the accumulation of molecular damage. He also concluded that weak oxidation stress, cytostatic agents, heat shock, hypoxia and calorie restriction might extend one’s lifespan.

Mikhail’s study on aging also proves that aging is caused by over-activated signal transduction pathway like Target of Rapamycin (TOR). The TOR pathway is responsible for cellular mass growth, and it is activated by insulin, growth factors, and nutrients. His study on TOR shows that there are two types of Hormesis (Hormesis A and B). Hormesis A inhibits the TOR pathway while Hormesis B increases a person’s ability to withstand catastrophic aging complications.

Hormesis A includes calorie restriction, resveratrol rapamycin, physical exercises, heat shock and hypoxia while Hormesis B includes ischemic preconditioning, physical exercise, and medical interventions. Both of this Hormesis are done to slow aging. TOR is a continuation of developmental growth-promoting pathways.

Mikhail Blagosklonny concluded that by slowing down aging, CR and rapamycin may delay cancer because slowing down aging also reduce DNA damage (DNA damage contributes to cancer). Mikhail Blagosklonny is an editor of articles and books on cell cycles and associate editor of cancer biology and therapy. Reference:

Mikhail Blagosklonny’s research ranges from molecular cell biology, anticancer therapeutic methods and signal transductions. His aim is to develop unique concepts in cancer biology and therapy. He facilitates the development of new anti-cancer strategies and methods of cancer prevention.

Some unnatural factors are leading to quick aging. Mikhail tries to tackle all non-natural factors leading to quick aging. His research will aid scientists in finding cures to some aging illnesses all over the world.
